Sunflower

A full time alternative, twice-a-week psychedelic, graveyard-shift blues and part-time experimental rock band. One of Brisbane’s most explosive and talented upcoming acts, Sunflower is known for notoriously wild and passionate onstage shows, trademark magnetic double-neck guitar work, writing profusely and staying alive.


Since igniting their local scene in 2007, Sunflower have smashed through over 100 shows throughout their home state, as well as progressing to playing host at premier venues and events across the east-coast. Having completed a debut album with producer/engineer Jeff Lovejoy (The Cruel Sea, Powderfinger, The Resin Dogs, Screamfeeder), Sunflower previewed the release early in early 2009 with the release of a two-track single for their song ‘Ready’, a track indicative of the hard-hitting melodic sound that has seen the band gain and engage fistfuls of fans through their explosive live shows, and which has gone on to become the sing-along anthem at many performances.

Due for release in August 2009, ‘La Reveille’ is an album of expansive vision, and one which reflects the bands prolific and talented song writing efforts, along with their eclectic tastes and musical proficiency.

2009 thus far has seen the band take their trademark live show on the road and with several east-coast tours, and had them sharing the stage with acts such as Mammal and I Heart Hiroshima. Independent, self-managed and completely dedicated, Sunflower’s passion for creation and performance feed their determination to pave their own path. Playing live is the band’s passion, their lifeblood and musical livelihood. Just as likely to give you a blood nose as make you smile, Sunflower seek to create Rock’n’Roll from its glory days in their own design.
