Jackson Mclaren

Jackson Bard Mclaren was born well after many of the classic albums that first inspired him were released. His parents raised him in the small Victorian country town of Warrnambool on a steady diet consisting of the likes of Bob Dylan, Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen. This musical baptism fuelled his early passion for music, and set him apart from most of the other kids in town who were more focussed on footy than on music, poetry or literature. At 17 years of age Jackson is now more and more creatively inspired by his own observations of people and place. He is emerging as a singer-songwriter of rare talent. His song writing is often deeply contemplative and yet at other times seems to simply be celebrating the beauty to be found in everyday life. There is an honesty and depth in his lyrics and in his performance, that promises to make him a compelling storyteller for many years to come. After self-producing many recordings in his bedroom, Jackson recently entered the studio with 2007 Aria producer of the year Josh Pyke. Then he recently toured across the country with Josh Pyke & Cloud Control on Josh Pyke’s “Chimney’s Afire” tour, which saw them take in sold out venues right across the country. Earlier in the year Jackson also toured nationally with Ireland’s The Swell Season, playing sold out venues of over 3000 people.
